For many of you, welcome back to the start of the new academic year. This month we only have one item to forward to you.

HSS New Orleans WhatsApp Community

We have created a WhatsApp Community to host GECC Communications during the HSS New Orleans conference this November. Included is the HSS 2025 Forum which is a space where graduate students & early career scholars attending the 2025 HSS Conference in New Orleans can look for housing, coordinate rideshares from the airport, and build community during the conference.

We hope this will facilitate networking among the grads & early career scholars coming to New Orleans.

HSS New Orleans Program Edits

If you have any changes you need to make to your paper in the conference program, please submit any edits with the button below. Edits to the preliminary program are due 29 August 2025 (this Friday).

HSS New Orleans Travel Grants

To defray travel costs, the HSS will make available several grant opportunities.

• We offer National Science Foundation travel grants to graduate students, independent scholars, and recent PhDs (degree in the past 5 years) who are participating in the meeting. Only US citizens or those studying at US institutions are eligible for NSF grants. This is a reimbursement grant.

• HSS will offer a limited number of travel grants for students, independent scholars, and recent PhDs who are participating in the meeting, but who are ineligible for NSF grants. This is a reimbursement grant.

• Dependent care grants (up to US$250) will be offered for those who need such assistance. These grants are available to defray the costs of care either at home or at the meeting site.
